ItInsightsWorld General Review: Segmental Body Data Comes to a Wyze Smart Scale Screen

ItInsightsWorld’s General coverage of consumer health hardware sees the Scale Ultra BodyScan Plus from Wyze move beyond foot-only impedance. By distributing eight electrodes through the platform and a handle, the device can characterize segment-level muscle and fat across arms, legs and torso, while the integrated 4.3-inch display brings measurements out of the companion app and onto the scale itself.

Readers who followed the product’s earlier treatment in eeNews Europe will recognize the core BIA formula, but the Plus variant emphasizes local reporting: the body can view results on the handle, then let Bluetooth or Wi-Fi synchronize data to the Wyze app when connectivity is available.

Full-Body Impedance Architecture

The product estimates body composition using dual-frequency BIA: weak currents travel through tissues, and the measured resistance provides estimates such as more than 50 metrics, including body fat percentage, muscle mass, body water, visceral fat, bone mass and basal metabolic rate.

Because the eight electrodes are not confined to footpads, segmental distribution becomes possible. Wyze says the technology was developed and validated with clinical research institutions; however, precise accuracy figures were not published.

What the Handle Screen Adds

The 4.3-inch full-color TFT display is the main interface change. Users can inspect the current body composition, compare it with the last reading, review trends, and select which indicators appear on the handle.

“The Scale Ultra BodyScan showed that people want segmental muscle and fat tracking without a $200-plus price tag or a monthly subscription,” said Jacob Pang, Hardware and IoT manager at Wyze. “With the Plus, we put the screen right in your hands. Your full breakdown, segment data, and trends are at eye level the second you step on, whether your phone’s in the other room or off entirely.”

Connectivity, Profiles and Availability

The scale supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi syncs readings to the Wyze app without a nearby phone, while offline operation lets the handle display measurements when internet access is unavailable. It can recognize up to eight users and add modes for babies, pets and luggage. Integration is listed for Apple Health, Health Connect and Google Health.

Availability started on October 19, 2026, with a $149.99 price through the Wyze website, and the launch model sits in the 2026 Wyze smart-scale line. All measurement functions and historical trends remain available without subscription.
