An advertised serial number connected an online seller in Brazil to cargo reported missing at São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport. The advertised hardware was a stolen Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090; the vanished consignment was valued at R$2.5 million, or approximately US$470,000. One card has been recovered, while the wider case remains under investigation.
Jornal da Band said investigators identified a Zotac GeForce RTX 5090 offered on OLX for R$32,000; a serial number in the advertisement photographs matched one of the missing cards.
The listing was linked to a seller in Santa Bárbara d’Oeste, São Paulo, who was arrested on 21 October on suspicion of receiving stolen goods. Diário de Justiça reported a court reversed the arrest after the man showed he had bought the card through Mercado Livre for approximately R$26,450 and had asked for an invoice; at that stage, the court found insufficient grounds to conclude that he knew the card was stolen. Police seized the graphics card.
Camera recordings reportedly show two subcontracted forklift operators moving the shipment from the warehouse on 21 September. A third worker, whose role was to check consignments, authorised movement through the terminal’s electronic controls, and a truck then left the airport with the goods. Other reports say cargo labels were switched to make the shipment look like lower-value merchandise; whether all three workers knowingly participated has not been established.
Oderço first described the missing consignment as containing RTX 5090 cards, while a later account of police records also identifies Zotac RTX 5070 and RTX 5080 models; the exact number of missing graphics cards has not been publicly confirmed.
Oderço Matos, president of Oderço, announced on 22 October that serial numbers for the missing cards had been cancelled for warranty purposes, so the products no longer qualify for warranty support in Brazil or internationally. The cancellation does not electronically disable the cards.
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 is built on Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture, includes 21,760 CUDA cores and 32 GB of GDDR7 memory, and is used beyond gaming for rendering, content production and local AI processing. eeNews Europe’s CES 2026 coverage also addressed Nvidia’s wider RTX developments.
GRU Airport said the disappearance was reported to the authorities, that the investigation remains with them, and that the distributor received information about seeking compensation.
