The RTX 5080 has moved from a normal supply question into a wider pricing squeeze: United States retail floors are above USD 2,000 (about RMB 13,322), China domestic listings on JD.com are past RMB 22,000, and the common driver behind both trends is tighter GDDR7 supply plus demand shifting toward the 5080.

Two months ago, RTX 5080 was around about USD 1,200 (about RMB 7,994), and the reported upper channel figure was USD 1,979.99 (about RMB 13,190); the resulting gap was USD 800 (about RMB 5,329).
Current listing terms differ across channels. Micro Center shows Gigabyte Windforce SFF OC and MSI Suprim Liquid SOC at USD 1,979.99 (about RMB 13,199) with in-store pickup only. Best Buy lists PNY Triple Fan OC at USD 1,999.99 (about RMB 13,332), the only online-order path. Newegg first-party stock is sold out or coming soon, while third-party sellers hold at USD 2,299 (about RMB 15,325), 130% above the USD 999 (about RMB 6,659) MSRP.

| Channel snapshot | Product or status | Quote | Condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Micro Center | Gigabyte Windforce SFF OC, MSI Suprim Liquid SOC | USD 1,979.99 (about RMB 13,199) | In-store pickup only |
| Best Buy | PNY Triple Fan OC | USD 1,999.99 (about RMB 13,332) | Only online-order option |

| Newegg third party | RTX 5080 | USD 2,299 (about RMB 15,325) | 130% above USD 999 (about RMB 6,659) |
Within Micro Center, the lower-tier ASUS PRIME OC is priced at USD 2,349.99 (about RMB 15,665), above ROG Astral OC by USD 270 (about RMB 1,800), showing product hierarchy no longer maps cleanly to price.
China domestic market has tracked the same pressure away from launch levels:

The central constraint is GDDR7: the 16GB GDDR7 card depends on memory that DRAM makers are redirecting to HBM, compressing consumer supply. SK Hynix told investors this week that undersupply can last until 2030, and those costs are moving through AIB partners to retail.
At the top end, RTX 5090 has mostly vanished in United States channels, with some offers at USD 5,599 (about RMB 37,323). That pushes buyers who wanted 5090 into 5080. Rumors that NVIDIA may replace 16GB models with a 24GB RTX 5080 and reposition it against 5090 have added pressure on the 16GB version. NVIDIA has offered no public comment to date.
