Robotis Wins 750,000-Servo Order From Pollen Robotics After Microduck Draw Global Attention

A new supply agreement places Robotis at the center of Microduck's parts chain

A new supply agreement has placed Robotis at the center of the parts chain behind Pollen Robotics' rapidly popular Microduck, the company said on the 26th at its headquarters in Seoul's Gangseo District. Robotis will provide about 750,000 servos for the duck-shaped robot, matching current order demand for 50,000 units and a design that uses 15 Robotis servos for each robot. The deal is valued at approximately 3.5 billion won, or about $2.4 million.

A high-profile demonstration is accelerating demand

Microduck is developed by Pollen Robotics, a company operating under AI platform company Hugging Face. The product's visibility rose sharply after Jensen Huang demonstrated it on the 21st. Matthieu Lapeyre, co-founder and CEO of Pollen Robotics, said about 15,000 additional orders arrived within three days of that demonstration, and the company expects servo demand to reach at least 1 million units next year.

Design and price are shaping the robot's appeal

Pollen Robotics links Microduck's momentum to a more accessible consumer profile: a familiar design, a lower price point, and a shift from a robotics learning platform toward everyday companionship. The robot originally served as a development platform for reinforcement learning, but has recently become better known as a consumer companion. Lapeyre said he wants Microduck to enter daily life in the same way a pet does, becoming a familiar presence rather than a niche gadget.

Robotis' Dynamixel series remains the chosen hardware path

This is not Pollen Robotics' first reliance on Robotis components. The company has used the Dynamixel series across earlier robot projects, including its previous Reachy Mini compact robot. Lapeyre said the team has worked with Dynamixel over an extended period and selected Robotis because it trusts the company's ability to combine high performance with a compact physical footprint.
