Nokia 2360 Flip Dual-Screen Flip Phone Arrives as HMD Global's Family Safety Feature Phone

Recently, HMD Global introduced the Nokia 2360 Flip, a dual-screen clamshell feature phone aimed at older users, students, and households that want a simpler alternative to a smartphone. Alongside physical buttons and a familiar flip-phone design, the device adds safety controls that can be managed remotely by family members.

One headline feature is a dedicated SOS button. When pressed for three seconds, it calls a preset contact and sends a text alert to up to five emergency contacts. The contact list and message details can be set through a companion app, making the alert path useful for elderly users, people with mobility limitations, and children who only need basic communications.

The accompanying app is Family Assist, and it works on Android and iOS. Through a smartphone, relatives can manage the feature phone remotely by adding or editing contacts, creating reminders, adjusting volume, and setting emergency-call options. The control flow uses SMS, so the device does not need a mobile data plan or Wi-Fi.

For younger users, the Nokia 2360 Flip includes parent controls. School Mode limits the handset to showing the clock and allowing emergency calls, which reduces nonessential use during classes. Parents can also whitelist permitted contacts, block calls or texts outside that list, and disable features such as the camera or games. These controls are protected by a Family PIN so children cannot change them alone.

Physically, the handset keeps a two-screen layout: a 2.8-inch QVGA inner display and a 1.77-inch QQVGA outer screen for caller information when the lid is closed. Large menu icons, a real numeric keypad, a separate speaker, and hearing-aid compatibility further lower the barrier for older owners.

On the specification side, the device runs HMD S30+ and offers 4MB RAM, 4MB internal storage, microSD expansion up to 32GB, a basic QVGA rear camera with LED flash, an FM radio, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and USB-C charging.

Power comes from a 1450mAh removable battery, with official figures of up to 15 days standby and up to 27.5 hours talk time. The removable design lets an aging battery be swapped without sending the whole handset for repair.

Three color options are offered: charcoal black, burgundy red, and teal green. The body measures 111.85×55.56×18.95 mm and weighs about 121 grams.

However, the Nokia 2360 Flip is limited to GSM 900/1800MHz 2G networks and has no 4G LTE support. In regions or countries that have ended 2G service, it may not connect at all. As multiple European countries retire 2G, buyers should treat network longevity as a key check before purchase.

As of now, HMD has not disclosed global unified pricing or a full launch schedule. The handset is also distinct from the earlier HMD 2660 Flip, which supports 4G, while this model deliberately stays on a simpler 2G path. The broader point is that basic features alone do not guarantee value; the availability of a usable mobile network matters more, especially as communications continue shifting toward 4G and 5G.
