When a platform vendor buys an application specialist, the interesting question is usually whether the combined architecture delivers something neither roadmap could on its own. That question now applies to Dassault Systèmes and ArisGlobal, whose acquisition has been formally completed. According to the acquirer, every Life Sciences and Healthcare capability is being merged into one AI platform that links science, medicine, and patients, with quicker drug discovery, better therapies, and better-informed decisions cited as the intended outcomes. Dassault frames the transaction as a reinforcement of its ambition to improve people's lives.
The commercial structure splits into a fixed payment and a conditional one:
| Element | Reported detail |
|---|---|
| Cash at closing | $1.8 billion |
| Additional consideration | up to $200 million, contingent on multi-year AI-related revenue milestones |
| What the acquired platform does | Holds regulatory, safety, quality, and medical affairs data as one AI-native source of truth |
| Installed base | more than 200 clients, with half of the top 50 global biopharma companies among them |
| Internal placement | Sits alongside BIOVIA and MEDIDATA within the Life Sciences and Healthcare sector |
| Continuity at the top | Aman Wasan remains CEO of ArisGlobal |
The strategic description goes beyond a portfolio tidy-up. Dassault Systèmes says the combined assets should span scientific discovery, clinical development, manufacturing, and real-world patient outcomes on a single AI-native platform. The mechanism it points to is context: AI, Virtual Twins, and expertise in 3D UNIV+RSES are layered together so that AI receives what it needs to convert data into actionable insights.
Responsibility for that integration sits with Dr. Ashwini Zenooz, appointed Executive Vice President and CEO of the Life Sciences and Healthcare sector — a newly created role that also brings her into the Executive Committee, reporting to Pascal Daloz.
Her remit covers three business units — MEDIDATA, BIOVIA, and ArisGlobal — plus:
Zenooz's profile combines three backgrounds: physician, technology leader, and entrepreneur. Her leadership history includes Salesforce, Commure, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, supported by deep knowledge of applied AI, mental health, precision medicine, and telehealth. She is a fellowship-trained radiologist who holds an active California medical license, and her U.S. training links California and Florida: both her Doctor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science came from the accelerated Medical Honors program at the University of Florida.
The current configuration is not recent. For more than a decade, Dassault Systèmes has been reinforcing expertise, capabilities, technology, and customer relationships across the sector — BIOVIA introducing modeling and simulation in science, MEDIDATA transforming clinical development through 42,000 trials and 13 million patients, and industrial knowledge moving Virtual Twins into manufacturing and operations.
The declared target dates to 2020, when the company presented its ambition to push Virtual Twins beyond the world of things into the world of life, merging information sciences, material sciences, and biosciences into complete living virtual models that can be configured, simulated, and predicted on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
