From an infrastructure-sovereignty perspective, the Munich initiative from Cadence answers rising European expectations for regulated, secure AI engineering workloads. ItInsightsWorld sees the facility as a way for chip, packaging, system, and AI factory design teams to keep data inside the EU while working on EDA and simulation tasks.
In the deployment, Cadence OnCloud works with NVIDIA Vera and Grace CPU systems, while the Cadence Reality Digital Twin Platform and the Cadence Millennium M2000 AI Supercomputer based on NVIDIA Blackwell complete the stack. The platform supports EDA, simulation, and AI workloads, and it is described as the first comprehensive sovereign AI platform for semiconductor, system, and AI factory design in Europe.
Cadence OnCloud is certified to ISO 27001, ISO 27017, and SOC 2 Type II, so the Munich deployment provides trusted cloud capacity. It also expands Cadence's cloud presence in Europe, supports EuroCDP startups, and complements existing European cloud resources such as leading public cloud provider infrastructure in Frankfurt.
| Platform element | Role in the Munich deployment |
| Cadence OnCloud | Secure sovereign cloud access for EDA, simulation, and AI workloads. |
| NVIDIA CUDA-X | Accelerated software layer paired with Cadence's AI-accelerated design and simulation software. |
| Cadence Reality Digital Twin Platform | Design, validation, and optimization of AI infrastructure before deployment. |
| Cadence Millennium M2000 AI Supercomputer | Compute built on NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs for AI factory and data center workloads. |
Before next-generation AI infrastructure is installed, engineering teams can use the Cadence Reality Digital Twin Platform with the NVIDIA AI stack, including NVIDIA Omniverse libraries, to examine power delivery, cooling, airflow, thermal performance, and equipment placement with engineering-grade fidelity. The platform also supports the NVIDIA Omniverse DSX Blueprint, bringing relevant DSX Blueprint capabilities into AI factory design and operations.
A central element is a Cadence Reality DC Elements model for the Cadence Millennium M2000 AI Supercomputer, which uses NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs. That validated digital representation lets customers simulate and optimize AI factory and data center environments before installation, reducing deployment risk and shortening time to operation.
Cadence plans to use its own Cadence Reality Digital Twin Platform inside the Munich facility to improve the design and operation of its accelerated computing infrastructure, aiming for better energy efficiency, lower operational risk, and greater sustainability. In a recent deployment, the platform raised data center capacity utilization from 71% to 89% and improved operational availability from 90% to 98%, giving operators more value from existing infrastructure while preserving reliability.
To speed the rollout of sovereign AI infrastructure across Europe, Cadence is collaborating with industry leaders throughout the AI ecosystem. Combined with Cadence's AI-accelerated design and simulation portfolio and Cadence Agentic AI technologies, Cadence OnCloud, the Cadence Millennium M2000 AI Supercomputer, and the Cadence Reality Digital Twin Platform form an integrated platform that allows European customers to design, build, and operate sovereign AI capabilities fully inside the EU.
| Participant | Activity or use case |
| NVIDIA GTC Berlin | At the event in Berlin, Cadence and NVIDIA are showcasing their collaboration to enable AI factory design and operations. It combines NVIDIA accelerated computing, the NVIDIA Omniverse DSX Blueprint, and the Cadence Millennium M2000 AI Supercomputer so customers can design, simulate, and optimize next-generation AI factories with engineering-grade fidelity. |
| Vertiv | Vertiv, a global leader in critical digital infrastructure, uses the Cadence Reality Digital Twin Platform to design, simulate, and validate its modular MegaMod HDX AI data center. Because engineering teams can assess power, cooling, and infrastructure performance before deployment, the platform helps lower design risk and speed the delivery of next-generation AI infrastructure. |
| HPE | HPE has adopted the Cadence Reality Digital Twin Platform for its HPE Data Center AI Mod POD solution, using it to design, benchmark, and operate AI infrastructure. The solution gives deeper insight into power, thermal, cooling, and operational performance. |
| Nation Data Center | Based in France, Nation Data Center is using the Cadence Reality Digital Twin Platform to design and validate sovereign, high-density AI infrastructure ahead of deployment. |
Cadence OnCloud on sovereign infrastructure is available today to European customers. Additional compute capabilities are planned as the Munich data center infrastructure expands, including NVIDIA Vera, Grace CPU systems, the Cadence Millennium M2000 AI Supercomputer, and Cadence Reality Digital Twin Platform instances.
