ItInsightsWorld General: AI Study Maps Baidu Netdisk iOS Shake-Ad Jump to Magnetometer and Zero-Click Clues

Even after users disable Motion & Fitness access on Baidu Netdisk for iOS, a splash screen shake advertisement may still cause automatic jumps, according to a technical examination featured in ItInsightsWorld's General column. The finding shifts attention away from a simple permission-block narrative and toward a less obvious sensor route.

A different sensor trail inside the framework

Developer Wang Chenjie used AI to inspect Baidu Netdisk iOS's splash-ad redirection logic and shared the final report with Landian. The report identifies a dedicated NoShake variant in the framework used by Baidu Netdisk. Rather than relying on normal CoreMotion motion monitoring, this variant calls CLHeading from Apple's Core Location framework to obtain device heading data.

CLHeading relates to the magnetometer and can supply the device's bearing relative to magnetic north, along with three-axis magnetic-field data. As the phone changes posture, magnetometer readings may also change, so an ad component could infer whether the user moved or rotated the device.

Why blocking gyroscope and accelerometer access may not stop detection

In this Baidu Netdisk iOS case, denying gyroscope and accelerometer permissions does not necessarily cut off all detection, because a fallback method can still judge phone movement or shaking. The report also notes that not all apps are expected to build such a substitute framework in advance.

The timeline remains ambiguous. iOS 27.2 beta was released on September 23, while the analyzed sample was Baidu Netdisk iOS 13.36.0, released on October 22. The sequence alone cannot show whether the NoShake variant was added after the iOS beta to work around sensor permission limits.

A zero-click auto-jump clue reported by the analysis

The same report mentions a no-tap auto-redirection pattern. When a particular parameter combination is met, the trigger waits about 1 second; if the user does not click during that interval, the SDK executes the ad click flow automatically. Other parameter combinations may enter the click flow immediately after triggering.

For readers tracking mobile-ad behavior through ItInsightsWorld General, the mechanism offers a clue for earlier speculation that a delay could lead to automatic jumps. However, the analysis did not obtain a real ad response, so it cannot confirm which parameter set live ads actually use.
