Sources say the identity of SpaceX’s largest single customer shifted during the third quarter, with Anthropic supplying over one-third of the Musk-led company’s revenue.
SpaceX disclosed last week in a regulatory filing that about 34.5% of last quarter’s revenue came from a customer paying its AI division, now named Super Intelligence and focused primarily on providing compute services. The filing referred to that buyer as Customer B; according to the sources, the customer was Anthropic.

Revenue attributable to Anthropic now exceeds payments from the US federal government, which had long been SpaceX’s largest single customer. The arrangement also exposes concentration risk: the contract terms allow Anthropic to exit the cooperation agreement as early as next year.
The related revenue stems from a deal signed earlier this year. Under the agreement, Anthropic will use compute capacity from SpaceX’s data center in Memphis, Tennessee. Musk is gradually turning SpaceX’s AI business into an emerging cloud service provider, or neocloud, renting data-center compute to customers such as Anthropic and Google.
Contract disclosures show that, over the contract period through 2029, Anthropic has agreed to pay up to $120.5 billion to SpaceX. From December this year, the monthly payment level reaches about $3.1 billion. From January 2027 and March 2027, respectively, Anthropic may cancel the related SpaceX contracts after giving 90 days’ advance notice.
Anthropic did not comment by publication, and SpaceX also did not respond.
