IT Insights reads the AMD Helion release as a shared starting point for rack-scale agentic AI capacity: CPU-heavy and accelerator-heavy paths are both placed under one specification.
The 21-in. Helion rack follows Open Compute Project (OCP) specifications. That structure lets teams tune CPU/GPU ratio, core count, and power envelope around target applications.

For a CPU-only rack, AMD EPYC processors support up to 32,768 Zen 6 x86 CPU cores. For the broader rack, general-purpose compute, AMD EPYC nodes, and up to 16 AMD Instinct MI350 GPU nodes are combined.
Within that combined rack, a token router can send inference requests to cloud frontier models or to locally hosted open-source models.
AMD plans to hand the Helion specification to OCP for community development. Partner rack configurations are progressing, and the availability window is set for November 2026.
